The CHC40113 Certificate IV in School Age Education & Care qualification reflects the role of educators who work with school age children in outside school hour’s care and vacation programs. In doing so they support the implementation of an approved learning framework and they may work under direct supervision or autonomously whilst educating children to achieve their developmental outcomes.
Outside School Hours educators:
- plan experiences and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and plan and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes
- may work under direct supervision or autonomously
- may have some supervisory responsibilities for volunteers and other educators.

Why should I study this course?

What is the Course Structure?
This course consists of 19 units, 15 units are core and 4 units are elective. Students must successfully complete all units to gain their qualification.
Training delivery consists of formal structured training and assessment of the practical application of the theoretical knowledge acquired through the structure training over the duration of the training program.
Minimum 20 hours weekly study which may comprise of 12 hours of classroom based study; 8 hours of home study.
Full time: 52 Weeks
Part Time: Up to 2 year

On completion candidates may enrol and study higher Diploma qualification.
Participants will be required to undertake a minimum of 120 hours of professional industry vocational placement within an approved Education & Care setting for successful completion of this qualification. Professional practice hours should be treated as a guide only and is a requirement for this qualification. Students are required to obtain a Working with Children Check, a Police Clearance and medical clearance before attending work placement. IETS is happy to assist students in finding and obtaining a suitable work placement if required.

Assessment is based on competency (the ability to demonstrate specific skills) and is undertaken through a combination which may consist of classroom observation, discussion, case studies, role plays & written assignments and the work placement.All assessments are to be submitted electronically unless otherwise stated by your trainer.
